Collecting, Representing and Analysing Data with Numbers App in Year 7

Image
Data can be represented in various ways such as Bar Graphs and Pie Charts The students in Ms Barne's Maths class learned to represent and analyse data they had collected in class. After collecting the data in a spread sheet in the Numbers app, they chose to represent it with graphs/charts of their choice generated within the Numbers app. This enabled them to analyse the data and ensure that it was represented correctly by formatting the graph/chart generated such as labeling the X and Y axis with a relevant data label and giving it a title etc. Some students further defined their data representation with a colour coded legend.

Design Made Easy with Mac Book Short Cuts

Image
The Year 9 students in Ms Mason's extension class learned Mac Book short cuts to make their Auto CAD design learning smoother. By using the function keys (F1,F2, F3 etc) students were able to switch smoothly between their tutorials, file/folder directories, their internet browser and the Auto CAD app to continue designing their Formula 1 vehicles. Of particular help was the 'Mission Control' key (F3) which allows all windows that are open to be viewed and the 'Dashboard' key (F4) which displays all widgets/apps available on the Dashboard. Further, the students learned to use the touch-pad to control their desktops (4 finger swipe) and organise their workflows (5 finger pinch).

Keynote Worksheets in Year 7 Art

Image
The students in Mrs Oborn's Art class continued to learn the Elements of Art by researching examples of texture in Art via a Google Advanced Search and documenting this research in a Keynote worksheet. The worksheet was distributed to all students via air drop direct to their Mac Books. They then got to work creating a sample of textures to demonstrate their understanding of that particular element. Students submitted their completed Keynote worksheets by air drop to Mrs Oborn's Mac Book. The students will soon be learning to download and upload their Keynote worksheets from/to their class Connect.

Learning How to be Movie Directors, Writors and Editors in Year 9 Media

The students in Ms Driscoll's Media class learned how to create mini-movies using iMovie app on the MacBook. The movie was based on the title 'The Shoe. Student's had to write a short script and integrate their knowledge of frames e.g. P.O.V. in it. They then learned how to trim, split, text and audio overlay to string their scenes together in a cohesive movie. Finally, the class investigated the final phase editing features such as slow-motion, colour filtering and contrasting to refine their movie and enhance effect. The students will next be creating Movie Trailers based on a story Genre they know using iMovie app.
